Hi Everyone!!

Feeling just a smidge under the weather today (nothing serious, just minor head-cold symptoms), so not able to put a video together for you today.

However, in trying to think of a great topic for today, I realized that in one of my previous videos I had mentioned the recipe to a post workout snack that I like to enjoy, but have never put the ingredients & measurements in writing for you.

I have had a few people email and ask me about the recipe so I decided that I would write up a post for you all so that you could try it out yourself.

Please note that I eat as much stuff as close to natural as I can. After studying Mike Geary’s book “The Truth About Six Pack Abs” and all the great nutritional advice he imparts therein, I’ve adopted a lot of what he talks about. I think he’s a really smart guy with great ideas about healthy eating.

While I didn’t get this exact recipe from him (I made it up myself), I used a lot of what I learned from him to come up with this combination.

Its yummy and a great glycogen filler for your muscles after a hard session of lifting in particular.

It’s a pretty simple recipe and quick to make!

Ingredients:

100-150 grams sliced organic strawberries
1 sliced banana
1/3 cup plain non-fat organic yogurt
1/2 teaspoon raw organic sesame seeds
2 teaspoon raw organic pumpkin seeds
2 teaspoon raw organic sunflower seeds
1/4 cup Kellogs All-Bran Buds with Psyllium cereal

Place the sliced strawberries into a bowl and then add the sliced banana, yogurt on top of that, seeds and cereal together on top of everything. Thats all that you have to do!

I would suggest eating rather quickly though as the cereal doesn’t take long to start to get soggy and when that happens it pretty much ruins the snack.

Notice too that most of the ingredients are organic and there’s a good reason for that.

Organic foods are grown naturally in the earth without the use of pesticides and other chemicals ensuring that all of that junk doesn’t get into your body.

I’m still looking for a viable replacement for the bran cereal that will be more natural (this one is pretty good but there’s still bht in the ingredients to preserve freshness and I try not to eat preservatives wherever possible), but have not been able to find something that works well with this particular combination of ingredients yet.

The calorie count for this particular snack runs approximately 325 calories (depending on how many strawberries you use and how big your banana is), so it’s a great mini-meal.

As Mike Geary preaches, better to eat 5-6 small meals of 300-500 calories each (depending on your own personal caloric needs) every 2.5 – 3.5 hours than to eat bigger meals less often.

This will keep your metabolism revving all day long, which helps your body keep burning fat! I’ve also personally adopted this nutritional routine.

Please note that this particular recipe won’t keep you full for long, just by the nature of it being mostly carbs and not much protein to make it stick. That’s ok though, its intended to replenish my tired muscles after a work-out, not necessarily fill me up.

Go ahead and try out the recipe and let me know what you think of it!
