Hoo Boy!

I’m sick. VERY sick.

And therefore we’ll have no video today!! There’s NO WAY I’m putting myself on a video looking like THIS!Don

And yes, it’s TRUE !

This crazily committed “health, nutrition and workout chick” who always brags how she never gets sick cuz she takes such good care of herself went ahead and GOT SICK.

I got what was coming to me, though.

I maintain that keeping up a healthy lifestyle with good, solid nutrition from whole, natural one-ingredient foods will go a long way to keeping you healthy, even when those nasty little seasonal germs are out preying on you.

So, how’d I wind up sick then, you ask?

If you’ve been keeping up here, you’ll remember that I’ve been working extremely hard these past few weeks, and was shooting some high end and complicated health videos for a client of mine a couple of weeks ago for a few days straight.

I was working ridiculously long hours during that shoot … and the only food being provided was chips and chocolate bars for snacks, and lunches were burgers and pizza.

YOIKS!

Why didn’t I pack healthy fare to take with me, I was asked.

Cuz the hours were long ENOUGH that I felt that sleep took priority over packing food for myself.

And I arrogantly let myself think that all my good health up til then would save me through a few days of eating nothing but crap.

I was wrong.

It was definitely my saving grace for keeping my weight under control overall, and for being able to pick up where I left off with my workouts after a few dictated days off.

But I compromised my immune system by feeding it nothing but crap. So it had nothing in it’s arsenal to help keep me healthy and strong and resistant.

Now, this has nothing to do with eating TOO MUCH. Cuz I didn’t really eat a ton of this stuff.

But it’s ALL I ate … for several days straight.

And I paid the price for it.

When that little seasonal germ came calling for my health, it easily found the chink in my armor and BLAMMO !! Before I knew it I was coughing up a lung and making everyone around me nuts (and a little paranoid since they don’t want to catch what I caught).

Our bodies were not designed to live healthy lives purely on overly salted, sugar-laden processed, pseudo-food with tons of preservatives added. They’re designed to live on whole foods you can find in nature. Not that you find in a plastic bag or foil ‘freshness’ wrapper.

And I’m an idiot to think I’d be immune just cuz I ‘usually’ eat a healthy diet. SHAME ON ME!

If I’d stayed the course and stuck with my usual healthy diet I have no doubt that I would have been in a MUCH better place to avoid this year’s flu like I do most years.

Rats. That’s what being arrogant and letting myself slide will get me.

I’ll remember this.

*cough cough* DAMN!
