<p><strong>Thanks to Summer for refusing to come here in Vancouver.  </strong></p>

<p>My hopes for a beach day were dashed by clouds and cooler temperatures (<em>STILL!</em>)&#8230;</p>

<p><em>sigh &#8230;</em></p>
<p>
<p>I had a little extra time on my hands today.  Seemed like the perfect time to get back to one of my long lost loves:  <strong>POWERWALKING</strong>.</p>
<p>
<p>So, I hit the seawall today for a good, long and energetic powerwalk.</p>
<p>
<p>I don&#8217;t have time for it as much these days, cuz it takes a little more time to get a decent amount of work done than a good hard run or a HIIT session.  </p>
<p>
<p><strong><em>But&#8230; KNOW THIS:</em> </strong> </p>
<p>
<p><em>No matter what anyone else out there tells you, powerwalking is a <strong>GREAT </strong>way to get in shape, a great way to burn fat and a great workout.</em>  </p>
<p>
<p>Sure, it&#8217;s been dubbed &#8216;long slow boring&#8217; cardio by some of the fitness gurus out there &#8230; but if you&#8217;ve got a place like I&#8217;ve got to walk, how boring is it REALLY?  </p>
<p>
<p>Not very.</p>
<p>
<p><strong>And boring or NOT, it&#8217;s a great way to burn calories and get your cardiovascular system worked out.</strong></p>
<p>
<p>Just make sure you WORK at it&#8230; no &#8220;strolling&#8221;, ya hear?  <img alt='Stanley Park Seawall Vancouver' src='http://www.girlwithnoname.com/images/Running-on-Vancouver-Seawall.jpg' align="right" width='249' height='140' style="border-style: none"/></p>

<p>Anyway, I decided to take the camera and have you along for a little walking tour while I was out there so I could show you how the Vancouver Parks Board and City Hall did on the repairs they started way back last Autumn and promised to have finished by February &#8230;</p>
<p>
<p><em><strong>Were they finished by February?</strong>  </em></p>
<p>
<p>No.  Of course not.  This is Vancouver we&#8217;re talking about here.  Nothing ever gets done on time, or on budget.  </p>
<p>
<p><strong>They only just reopened the last section on my running path a couple of weeks ago. </strong> </p>
<p>
<p><em>It&#8217;s JUNE, PEOPLE!!!</em></p>
<p>
<p>And as far as I can see, the engineers weren&#8217;t thinking with their brains when they designed this new seawall&#8230; cuz come Autumn, there&#8217;s gonna be a mess and they&#8217;ll all be slapping their foreheads.  </p>
<p>
<p><em>I could have done a better job of figuring this out.  A FOUR YEAR OLD could have figured THIS one out.  </em></p>
<p>
<p><strong>It&#8217;s not ROCKET SCIENCE, for pete&#8217;s sakes!!</strong></p>
<p>
<p>Anyway, like I said&#8230; I took the cam &#8230; and I vented my ire a little.  </p>

<p><em>&#8230; and I got one more rep out of me than I did last time!!!  <strong>Hee Hee!!</strong> </p>

<p>It&#8217;s coming&#8230; this is a hard exercise to progress, but <strong>it&#8217;s COMING!</strong></em></p>

<p>That seawall beckons me even in the cold and rain and slush.</p>

<p>But Winter means short days.  Which means long nights.  Which means its dark out there in the evenings. </p>

<p><strong><em>Not so safe for a long solo run.</em></strong></p>
<p>
<p>Depending on where and how you&#8217;re doing that long solo run, that is.</p>
<p>
<p>Hey, just because it&#8217;s dark and scary out there doesn&#8217;t mean you don&#8217;t still have lots of options to get a good workout in AND stay safe.</p>
<p>
<p><em>Are YOU being strategic about keeping yourself safe during your dark night time runs?</em></p>
<p>
<p></br>

<p>We should all time ourselves.  Otherwise, how do you know if you&#8217;re progressing?</p>

<p><strong>Oh No!  My Hillsprints hill has CLOSED!</strong></p>

<p>Yup, tragedy has befallen me.  The Parks Board decided to fence up my favourite hillsprint hill.  </p>
<p>
<p>No matter &#8230; I&#8217;ll still find a way to get my hillsprints done &#8230;<img alt='Hillsprints' src='http://www.girlwithnoname.com/images/Hillsprints.jpg' align="right" width='192' height='144' style="border-style: none"/></p>

<p>&#8230; but in the meantime, I&#8217;m kinda crushed and feeling out of sorts.  </p>

<p>I&#8217;m gonna miss that hill.  I hope they let it survive the construction.</p>

<p>Hi everyone!!  I had some thoughts today while I was doing my hillsprints that I just had to share with you, about FAT &#8230; more specifically different kinds of fat and what it takes to lose body fat as well as the concept of cutting out dietary fat in order to lose that body fat.  </p>

<p>HELLO!!!  This day is not shaping up in the best of directions!!!  </p>
<p>A case of sleep deprivation thanks to one late night funny tweeter last night (and thanks for that @BradHoward, you&#8217;re freaking hilarious but so much so I didn&#8217;t go to bed when I should have) and an early phone call from my mechanic this morning with a touch of bad news set the tone for the day.  </p>
<p>And this on top of my ON&#8230; GOING&#8230;. COMPUTER &#8230; TRAUMA !!!!!!  Yes, believe it or not, it does continue.  Have I mentioned I&#8217;ll never buy another Hewlett Packard product again, ever?</p>
<p>So, watch below while I catch you up on all the haps on my car, my computer, my workouts (right, this still IS a fitness blog after all, right? LOL) which did help me get a few endorphins flowing which in turn did improve my mood&#8230; But, unfortunately, it didn&#8217;t bring the price of my car repair down!! </p>
<p>ha ha!!  </p>
<p>Good health and fitness can&#8217;t fix EVERY one of life&#8217;s little problems, I guess (MOST&#8230;  but not all) !<br />

<p>And in my usual smartypants style, I&#8217;ve found a song that&#8217;s relevant to the post &#8230; I mean this is only <em>One Day In My Life</em> right? And things always get better&#8230; eventually. So, here&#8217;s a GRRRREAT song by a local Vancouver band that&#8217;s been around forever and still selling out two nights in a row, every few months like clockwork at one of the larger popular dance/live act venues here in Vancouver called The Commodore (and most Canadian cities they play).  </p>
<p>The band is <strong>54.40</strong> and if you&#8217;ve never heard of them, I&#8217;m not surprised&#8230; for some reason they never picked up in a huge way outside of Canada but man, you could do yourself a huge favour and check out more of their stuff, because they really are a fantastic group.  I love this song of theirs for running, because the beat drives me forward and the lyrics are kinda inspirational to me.  Enjoy the listen.  Neil&#8217;s got a fantastic voice!!</p>
<p>(And, did you know that the Hootie and the Blowfish song called &#8220;I Go Blind&#8221; was originally a 54.40 song?  Well, now you do!!)</p>

<p>Hey everyone!!  Here we are&#8230;lovely Sunday.  It was supposed to be my day off working out today but I felt guilty and restless so decided to have some &#8216;active rest&#8217; and go for a walk on the always-mentioned seawall, the path where I do the majority of my cardio work (including endurance running with and without hills, HIIT like hillsprints or my love-to-hate it :30/:30 sprint/walks.  Hopefully you&#8217;ll get a better idea of where I am in the future when I talk about heading to the seawall to get a run or other cardio under my belt for the day, and the size of the hills I&#8217;m running when I&#8217;m talking about hillsprints and endurance running with hills.  Mostly its just for fun, to share with you guys&#8230; and see if I can get Tourism Vancouver to give me some kickbacks!! HAHAHA</p>

<p>Hey everyone!! How&#8217;s everyone&#8217;s week coming along??  I&#8217;m still doing my headless chicken routine, but managed to get some hillsprints in today and that got me thinking more about interval training and Tom Venuto and the awesome advice and principles he talks about in his book &#8220;Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle&#8221;.  Tom is one of those guys that believes in HARD WORK over starving yourself in order to lose fat.</p>
<p>I also share a recipe that I invented.  When I first published this recipe on Twitter, I got a few incredulous responses asking if it actually tastes any good. Well, YES, it does and if you don&#8217;t believe me, ask one of my converts!!  My friend over on <a href="http://www.thefightgeek.org/">www.thefightgeek.org</a> didn&#8217;t believe me, tried it anyway and now eats it regularly!  Its a super good, nutrient-rich combination for pre or post workout with lots of protein!!</p>
<p>And finally, are brown eggs more nutritious than white eggs??  I answer this question too!</p>
