Sorry gang. No video today.

And that’s a bit ironic since what’s managed to suck me into it’s vortex is that I’ve been working like mad prepping to produce and shoot some health videos for a client of mine.

Drat. Sorry. I just ain’t got the time for it all.

But, today we’re finally shooting the video. This is actually day 2 of 3 days of shooting.

We’re putting in some long days. This is a complicated project.

And by ‘long days’ I mean 14 – 16 hours each day.

Yah. Ouch. I’m beat. And there’s still another whole day to go.

For anyone who’s never been on set: once you’re there … you’re there. No option to leave. No ‘lunch break’ to go work out. You show up when you’re told and when you leave it’s cuz you’ve just finished your last shot and the work day has ended.

Working out? HAHAHAHAHA!!! Right!!! No hope in hell.

When you’re shooting you dismiss ‘life’. Cuz you don’t have one. You get the job done. That’s it. Showering is a luxury … if you can keep your eyes open long enough.

Even *I*, the “never miss a workout, don’t give me no excuses‘ maniac that I am, even I don’t expect the average person to find time for a workout during these long hours.

And, cuz I’m just an ‘average’ person, there’s no chance of ME working out under these conditions, either.

And, now top THIS all off with the fact that this project is relatively low budget, which means there’s no traditional craft service (that usually has at least SOME healthy fare like vegetables, cheese and dips like hummus), and there’s no catered lunch from the gourmet lunch truck.

Nope.

We’ve got chips (doritos to be exact), leftover Hallowe’en candy bars, coffee with full fat cream and bakery goods to sustain us between meals. Lunch is fast food hamburgers and dinner is pizza.Junk Food

Good lord.

Every time I eat something I’m hungry again in about 10 minutes. Insulin spikes followed by insulin dips, followed by more eating cuz I’m hungry again. Not exactly the way to keep one’s metabolism high and one’s calories low.

Damn.

How about packing food to take with you, you say? Sure, if you’re Superman (in other words: ain’t gonna happen, sleep is way more important).

It’s times like these that I’m grateful that I’m consistent with my workouts usually.

Cuz when it’s all said and done, the fact is that 3 days down from my workouts and eating nothing but junk isn’t going to affect me long term.

Sure, an entire lifestyle like this would probably kill me early. And I’m not exactly going to be my usual energetic self by the end of this shoot.

But since I usually stick with my exercise and good nutrition habits regularly, it’s not a big deal. Hell, it was probably time for a longer break from the exercise anyway. Recovery is important too.

But make no mistake: I’m going to pay for all this crappy food I’m eating … not that I have a choice. I don’t. I am definitely going to gain fat.

But!! Because I’m consistent AND I’ve learned how to manipulate my weight through consistent practice with diet and exercise, I know it will only take me 3-4 days to get myself completely back on track.

So I’m not panicking.

If I was still in the dark about how it all worked, and I was trying to lose weight, I’d be through the roof with panic.

But I’ve learned.

I know what it takes.

I’ll be fine. I can relax through this project knowing I can handle this and get myself back on track in a hurry.

Practice makes perfect, after all. And I’ve been practicing for this eventuality for some time.

Alright. Enough blogging for me. Back to the shoot I go.

Oh, right. I don’t need luck. I have practice and maintenance on my side.
