Remember that post last week “Don’t Give Up What You Love” where we talked about how fitness gurus try to convince you to give up what you love in favor of whatever they’re selling?

There’s another way fitness gurus try to get you give up exercising the way you enjoy, buy their stuff and exercise the way THEY think you should. What is Fear

FEAR TACTICS!!

Consider this: again, there’s this thing you love to do.

It’s exercise and it burns calories and gets your heart rate up and makes you feel good.

Suppose it’s walking … or endurance running … or treadmill work … or the stairclimber machine … or elliptical training.

But some exercise guru out there on the interwebs has put together a crazy little pictorial comparison and labeled each picture something like this:

The Result if You Do This” … and … “The Result If You Do That

… on one side is a picture of someone doing the type of exercise they say you shouldn’t do (and it’s the thing you LOVE to do), and the result they’re telling you you’re gonna get if you do that …

Marathon Runner vs Sprinter

… and it looks BAD!!

And on the other side is someone doing the exercise they SAY you should do and the result they’re telling you you’re gonna get if you do that …

… and it looks GOOD.

And the difference is EXTREME.

But WAIT!

Think about this: what they’re actually telling you with these pictorial comparisons is that some kind of exercise … the kind you LOVE to do … is going to make you look WORSE if you keep doing it.

Good lord. What a monumental crock of SH*T!!

Please watch this:

When you see those ‘scare tactic’ pictures floating around out there remember this: YOU ARE NOT AN OLYMPIC ATHLETE, and will never achieve EXTREME results like you see in those pictures.

And, if you ARE an Olympic Athlete or an Olympic Athlete wannabe, more power to you! Go get ’em, Tiger!

But I think most of us here are ‘regular people’ with real lives and hectic schedules that don’t allow for hours and hours of intense training like the athletes in those pictures.

You will NOT shrivel up if you endurance run or hang out on the stairclimber machine. You will NOT turn into a gaunt, skinny little prune if you choose some other form of cardio instead of Interval Training.

Listen, if it burns calories, gets your heart rate up, moves your body, makes you feel good and contributes to being healthier, then it’s GOOD.

And don’t let anyone out there EVER tell you to give up an exercise you love in favor of an exercise you hate.

Trying to stick with the program, if you hate it, is a sure path to FAILURE.

Aim for success. Stick with what you love and don’t let stupid marketing ploys and ridiculous comparative fear tactic pictures drive you away from it.

Have a fit, fun and fantastic day.
